Has anybody got some recommendations for Greek films? Preferably films of Greek directors and in the Greek language. It doesn't matter what year the films are from.
The Travelling Players, Stone Years, It's a Long Road, Z (Not a greek production but directed by a Greek and the fictionalized events actually happened in Greece so it's a must see), The Red Lanterns, Blood on the Land, Voyage to Cythera, Eternity and a Day, Rembetiko, Zorba the Greek, Never on Sunday, A Touch of Spice.

Never on Sunday is particularly wonderful, and might be my favourite Dassin.

"Favorite" Dassin?

Wait I just remembered that I haven't seen anything apart from Rififi.

Rififi is better, but Never on Sunday has a tremendous appeal for me.

I have been really curious about his pre-Rififi film noirs he made in America.

Naked City is a game-changer of the more realistic noir, not unlike the procedural noir by Kazan, Boomerang

Kazan's Panic in the Streets, made roughly around the same time, was also terrific, and occupies a unique position in medical thriller sub-genre.

Agreed. The Fox guys really pushed the form brilliantly, Preminger included. Mankiewicz meanwhile ported the femme fatale over to women's dramedy which was similarly ingenious. Zanuck had such an amazing team there in the 40s, maybe the best lineup of studio directors ever, all of whom would go onto greater heights.

I watched A Letter to Three Wives few months ago and it had the same impact on me which All About Eve had years ago.

And yeah Zanuck had an incredible track record.
