The Dark Knight Trilogy

No, this is not a repost of our article from last July! Warner Bros. announced today that they will be screening all three films in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy in select IMAX theaters later this month for Batman’s 80th birthday. The engagement kicks off in Los Angeles on March 30th at the Universal Cinema AMC at CityWalk Hollywood. Each film will be presented in 70mm IMAX, with a special live Q&A with Christopher Nolan happening between the second and third films.

Then on April 13th, the trilogy will play at AMC Lincoln Square in New York City, and AMC Metreon in San Francisco, with footage of the Q&A with Christopher Nolan from LA being screened with the films. The special engagement will end on April 20th with screenings at Cinesphere Ontario Place, Toronto, and the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis.

The Dark Knight was the first Hollywood feature release to make use of IMAX 70mm photography. Nolan and cinematographer Wally Pfister utilized IMAX cameras for select sequences in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, setting a trend to follow in many Hollywood blockbusters. Tickets for all engagements will go on sale March 13th at 9AM Pacific Time. Attendees who acquire tickets for all three films will receive a lanyard and special Dark Knight Trilogy collectible.
