Could work. The idea of a Kaiju/Jaeger hybrid has been thrown around by the filmmakers. Day's character is a now mind-melded Kaiju obsessive, radical scientist. Experiments go wrong, or he just goes plain mad, or the Kaiju creators find a way of merging their thoughts with his now that he's melded with a Kaiju. I dunno, it could be taken a dozen ways and provide an appropriate platform for more epic battles without reopening a rift.

So, Legendary/WB wants it, script writers are 'hard at work', Del Toro cracked it... 2015 shooting, after Crimson Peak post, for a 2016 release date?
