Re: Criterion Channel

Very recently watched Three Outlaw Samurai on criterion, great stuff. Harakiri and Samurai Rebellion may be next for me. Need to actively look out for more Samurai movies from 60s.

Re: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019)

Watched Vol 2 couple of days back. And every time I rewatch it, I am amazed to see how unbelievably good the film is. The way story unfolds is just immensely satisfying. Elle and Kiddo's fight scene is one of the best fight scenes of 21st Century. And how in the world did Tarantino get Gordon Liu to...

Well the plan is to seek out more Lester films from his pre Superman 2 days, like Petulia and Forum.

The Three Musketeers (1973) and The Four Musketeers (1974) I think it was Armand who spoke about these films years ago on NF, that brought these movies to my attention. What a joyous cinema the first one is. The plot is intriguing, the characters are fun and the balance of tone is impeccable. Casti...

Re: Cricket World Cup 2019

I know everyone is saying that it's lame, but New Zealand knew beforehand what they needed on last ball to win. And that goddamn overthrow.

Wimbeldon final had nothing on this one. One of the most incredible games to ever take place.

Transit was really great. Though at times it felt that it didn't bring anything new to the Casablanca based plot. I couldn't disagree more. Transit takes a basic outline of Casablanca plotline and channels it through Buñuel, Borges and Kafka. The transposed and ambiguous era, the puzzle-box and cir...

Transit was really great. Though at times it felt that it didn't bring anything new to the Casablanca based plot. The Tarnished Angels (1957) Sirk was having a phenomenal run of films around that time, but this might be the best of bunch. His partnership with Hudson pays off big time here as I haven...

Re: Last Film You Watched? VI

The Dead Don't Die (2019) Meh. But Driver and Murray are pretty fun together. Would love to see these 2 particular characters in a different Jarmusch movie. One day the world would stop making zombie movies. One day. Satantango (1994) in 35mm Ok so where do I start. First of all I think it was once...
