I know Nolan pushed the running time of Interstellar to nearly the limit with the IMAX film reel. Should we expect another 170 minute movie or something a little more economical?

Nolan himself has been saying 2 hours.

I'm thinking around 130 minutes

Yeah with credits likely

also, the film contains 100 IMAX shot minutes, which means the rest is 20 minutes 65mm, it's crazy

Averaging his last four films, then last three, then last two, gives 158, 164, and 167.

So I'll go with that. 158-167 minutes. :P

Based on what he had said, I have a feeling this will have a shorter runtime than what we're used to from a Nolan flick, and that's exciting.

So, around 120-130 minutes is also what I would guess.

Didn't Nolan basically say it's about 2 hours long?

Fandango: So how, exactly, does Dunkirk push IMAX to the next level?

Christopher Nolan: Really, I think Dunkirk represents the culmination of all of these experiences we’ve had over the years [with IMAX]. How to work with that format, and how to really try to give the audience the most visceral experiential two hours that they can hope for.
I'm sure he's not being very precise in that statement, but I think the very nature of the story being about unrelenting tension warrants a shorter runtime than usual.
