IW is a soul sucking two hours and 40 minutes, super messy, and in many ways visually disappointing. Wasp is easy to sit back and enjoy.

so it kind of makes sense?

I thought I was alone until I saw this. Couldn't wrap my head around how much praise it got.

i actually like IW a lot now, i stand by my above post but i enjoy the structuring of "save the city or save the girl" conflicts of morality around most major characters.

its interesting, in the same way Thanos "weighs" his fatherhood and even his "soul" against his perception of a utilitarian "net gain" for the universe, so much Captain America, Vision, Wanda, Gamora, and Quill, and one of the smarter turns is that according to their own moral perspectives, Thanos does better than some of the Avengers on that moral barometer.

its also one of the most powerful deconstructions of "captain america' baby boomer virtue ethics frameworks in contrast to the utilitarian models by Dr Strange and Thanos, and where one's obligation to the people they love ends and duty to save the universe begins.

its still a bit of a mess, but its one of the smarter superhero movies

Can we all at least agree that it's the best Avengers movie?£

nah bruv, the first is better. On a script level, it's more or less a masterclass in action screenwriting and direction, perfect set ups / pay offs, how to introduce stakes and pivot between cross-cuts, and how to sustain a domino effect of climaxes without (overly) exhausting audiences.

shallow as an empty can of coke but its easy to take for granted what an achievement it was

I like it the most but I also agree with Vader about the first Avengers script. I’m also still to this the day confused by the vitriol thrown at Ultron in comparison to obviously weaker MCU movies.

After rewatches, I like Ultron more and the first less. The first film hardly feels like a real movie to me, especially comparing it to what comes after.

Guardians 2 over 1? My mannnn!!! Also fair ranking of Ultron, always find it head scratching some lists having it dead last.

I find it progressively harder to rank the MCU movies, especially since so many of them are very close in terms of quality for me. I'll try anyway, but I won't bother to score them.

3. Avengers: Infinity War
4. Captain America: Civil War
5. Iron Man
6. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
7. The Avengers
8. Black Panther
9. Guardians of the Galaxy
10. Spider-Man: Homecoming
11. Iron Man 3
12. Doctor Strange
13. Ant-Man and the Wasp
14. Captain Marvel
15. Avengers: Age of Ultron
16. Thor
17. Ant-Man
18. Captain America: The First Avenger
19. The Incredible Hulk
20. Thor - The Dark World

Glad they finally have a film with a female lead in this franchise.
