Re: Last Film You Watched? VI

The Man Who Would Be King (1975) It seems like a lot of people including critics miss the point that first and foremost, this is an allegory of the British Empire. Surprising considering how often people rush to find metaphors in movies. And I think the satirical part here comes from Kipling's text...

Re: Disney+'s The Mandalorian

Yeah, I would be shocked if they continue this by the time MCU shows are launched.

Re: Last Film You Watched? VI

Three Women (1977) Incredible, perfect and unforgettable. This might feel Polanski in atmospherics, but the characters are singularly Altman. And I think this is the first and perhaps only Altman film where he himself has the sole screenwriting credit. Both Spacek and Duvall are also terrific. I im...

Most of all, I'm annoyed that so much of the elements that pushes the plot forward requires me to read something. Newspaper headlines, letters, medical journals. The movie is filled with lazy, uncreative writing.
Yes. And direction doesn't elevate those scenes either.

Re: Top 10 Movies of 2019... so far

Transit may not be perfect but definitely far more than an ok film. Also it's a 2018 film, though I know why Vader puts it in 2019.

Re: Joker (2019)

I found the score sort of overbearing and it was used excessively. Probably a different director could have utilized her better.

Re: Joker (2019)

This is an empty movie. There's nothing here. But it's watchable for what it's worth. How did Martel let it win at Venice, I mean she just made Zama.

Re: Netflix's The Haunting of Hill House

Two episodes into this show and I'm about a hundred pages into the book (the show and book are not alike at all). Just wait for 6th. Still can't believe they pulled off something like that so wonderfully. Also, since the next season is Haunting of Bly Manor, I should mention that a Turn of the Scre...
