Re: El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)

For El Camino to justify its existence, it needed to equal, or surpass, the possibilities for Jesse you have imagined over the last 6 years. It doesn't. It restricts them to well executed thrills and fan service. Well paced, well shot, well acted, but "good" is not good enough. -Vader "It doesn't f...

Watchmen? Dude, even this year we got Brightburn and Hellboy. Last year we had Deadpool 2.

Re: Star Wars Universe Discussion Thread

https://twitter.com/BANGShowbiz/status/1181878285342560256 "we'll see what happens" Seems like negotiations have taken a step back a bit on the Rian Johnson trilogy. It seemed like a sure thing when it was announced (granted, it was announced before the release of The Last Jedi) and now it looks lik...

Re: Ad Astra (2019)

It's good thanks to the performance from Pitt, great cinematography, setting and grand set pieces. However, the narration is annoying. I think it could have been cut completely, replaced by visual representations and dialogue scenes and it would have worked much better and be more emotional. Because...

Re: Rank your favorite Superhero films

This year was really solid for superhero films. I'd give them this ranking: 1. Avengers Endgame 9/10 2. Joker 8/10 3. Shazam! 8/10 4. Spider-Man: Far From Home 7/10 5. Brightburn 7/10 6. Glass 6/10 7. Dark Phoenix 5/10 8. Captain Marvel 5/10 9. Hellboy 5/10 That's a solid year for DC to be honest. I...

Re: Top 10 Movies of 2019... so far

Definitely a worse year than 2018 so far, still haven't seen a film I consider 10/10 I haven't seen one since Interstellar and it was 5 years... but I'm really stingy with those scores. I have seen a 9 this year, though, which hasn't happened last year. Maybe even two, I'm still considering Midsomm...

Re: 2019-2020 Awards Season

I think these two categories are always super tight and there's always at least 7 or 8 worthy candidates each year.

While the MCU movies won in terms of dominating popular culture, Last Temptation of Christ is cinema in a way that none of these superhero movies will ever be.
Oh, hi Martin. Nice to see you on these forums. Have you ever seen The Dark Knight?
