Re: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

Heartbreaking to read these reactions. I’ve loved the ST and was hoping for a fitting conclusion. Will wait to see for myself, obviously, but reading people I respect tear it to shreds is a sad sight indeed.

At the very least I hope there’s a fitting send-off for Kylo.

Re: HBO's Watchmen

I think Lindelof got Manhattan much better than Snyder. This is what Berardinelli says about Snyder's version which I agree to some extent. Billy Crudup (with a huge CGI assist) gives us the Dr. Manhattan Snyder apparently wants: a detached, emotionless enigma. In the comic book, Dr. Manhattan is a...

Re: HBO's Watchmen

•shakespear•’s post on manhattan is superb and i agree with him. it made me consider things i may not have thought of before. one thing tho: if we’re to think of jon’s powers as a “cage” and suffering, and if we entertain the possibility of him transferring his powers via that egg (although persona...

Re: HBO's Watchmen

They did it. They really, actually did it... Been following this show since it was announced with high hopes as both a Watchmen and Lindelof fan, and it truly delivered something bold, meaningful, and distinct in a Last Jedi-esque manner (though it was certainly even bolder and weirder than TLJ). A...

Re: HBO's Game of Thrones

Sapochnik delivers BIG!! This was masterful in lots of ways, and I’m ultimately glad it was our penultimate battle and not The Long Night, even if there were bumps in the road along the way in getting here. This is GoT: not epic Good vs. Evil, Life Vs. Death, glorifying battle and violence, but rat...

Re: HBO's Game of Thrones

I think it's both. Some criticisms are blown out of proportion, but the writing of the latest two episodes is also noticeably worse compared to the first two, which weren't written by D&D. I fear for the last two episodes. That’s not how television writing works. They’re the showrunners, every epis...

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)

The costume designer, Michael Kaplan, straight up hated Rian. You can sense their friction and lack of chemistry in the BTS. he said, verbatim quote, "It was a bit like going from Obama to Trump. [laughs] I don’t know if you should say that." Not surprising when you literally write the line, "Take ...
